Today Psyonix announced their mobile standalone game Rocket League Sideswipe. Instead of just porting the game over Sideswipe was built from the ground up just for mobile. The game is said to be free and going to be on both IOS and Android.

Now obviously the gameplay will be a little bit different from regular Rocket League, but there will be some tweaks. The game however will be keeping the core, competitive gameplay. “In Rocket League Sideswipe, players compete from a new perspective on the field in 1v1 or 2v2 matches. Games will be fast-paced, 2-minute matches that you can play with friends near or far thanks to online play.”

The mobile controls will be different from PC and console play but should be easy to pick up whether you’re a master of Rocket League or a new player. There will still be competitive ranks to climb and your cars will have plenty of customizations similar to that of regular Rocket League. Psyonix has said there is plenty more information that they are excited to put out there but won’t come out until the following months.

Rocket League is a super fun game to play with friends so being able to play a version on mobile will be great. I am looking forward to being able to play while traveling and thanks to Rocket League Sideswipe we will get that!
