The Game Awards 2020 Game Announcements

Video Game’s Biggest night definitely delivered on bringing us a ton of new games to get hyped about. The Game Awards 2020 brought us plenty of good moments but we are most excited about the games coming in the future. While many of these games are quite far away still just learning of what all is in the works is always a joy for gamers. With so much being shown we decided it would be a good idea to give you a breakdown of The Game awards 2020 so you can see all the wonderful goodies it brought.

Century: Age of Ashes

Century: Age of Ashes is a free-to-play multiplayer dragon battle game coming out in February 2021. The game looked like a ton of fun and will essentially be aerial dog fights but with dragons. What more could you want!

Perfect Dark

Perfect Dark is finally making it’s return after a 10 year absence. Perk Dark is a first-person shooter as well as a stealth game. There are 3 previous games in the series and we are very excited to see a fourth come to be.

Back 4 Blood

A bigger and better Left 4 Dead by the people who made Left 4 Dead. We all love running around killing zombies with our friends and it has to be more fun when the zombies can sometimes be 20 feet tall! Back 4 Blood is set to come out June 22 2021.

Scavengers

Scavengers was initially announced in 2018 and has been in alpha for a while now. The closed beta starts today 12/10/2020 with 50,000 added slots to those who were already playing in the alpha. The shooter game pits squads of three compete to survive and dominate in a hybrid of sandbox-style PVE and class-based PVP.

The Callisto Protocol

From the devs that made Dead Space, we are getting another great-looking space horror game coming 2022. The game will be a single-player first-person survival game that wants to be the single scariest game out there and I hope they can make it happen. This just might be one of my favorites games from The Game Awards 2020.

WarHammer 40,000 Darktide

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a visceral 4-player co-op action game set in the hive city of Tertium. Darktide is a first-person action game where you will fight hoards of enemies that almost reminds me of Doom but in a good way. The dark atmosphere and gore really make this look interesting.

Open Roads

While we didn’t get too much information from the trailer we saw the game looked beautiful and we can assume it will be very story-driven. Tess Devine and her mother, Opal, discover a cache of old notes and letters carefully stashed away in the attic of their house. Follow them on their journey to figure everything out and possibly find a lost treasure.

Dragon Age 4

With not much information to go off we at least know Dragon Age 4 is being created. It has been 6 years since the last Dragon Age so many people are waiting and have been ever so patiently. Hopefully it wont be too much longer but only time will tell.

Endless Dungeon

Endless Dungeon is a Rogue-lite Tactical Action game, set in the award-winning but often lethal Endless universe. The top down shooter looks awesome. With very clean and crisp graphics the game looks very enticing. While no release date is set as of now this is definitely a game that has triggered my radar and will be one to look out for.

Crimson Desert

The people at Pearl Abyss gave us a ton to watch and be excited for with their 5-minute long trailer. Crimson Desert has a release date set for Winter 2021and will be a game I will be picking up on day one. The world looked huge and full of character which brings a ton of excitement for me.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

The Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury game features the same great co-op gameplay, creative levels and power-ups as the original game, but also so much more. Nintendo very rarely doesn’t deliver and having a great base in what was Super Mario 3D World will most likely make that stand true even more. We should be getting more information about the game soon so stay tuned.

Season

Season is a third-person atmospheric adventure bicycle road trip game. You will play as a young woman from a secluded community, who gets to explore the world. The PS5 exclusive does look very atmospheric and will likely be a very calming enjoyable game for all ages. Collect all the memories and artifacts you can before a mysterious cataclysm washes away the world.

Ark 2 + Ark The Animated Series

Ark 2 was a pretty big surprise to most. Not only are we getting Ark 2 but we are also getting an animated series based on Ark itself. This is the first time we are really getting an animated series based on a video game and I think we have actually had to wait too long. There is so much potential with the series. Vin Diesel while not in the animated series will be the star of the game. Overall everything looked really promising for a good game.

Outriders

Outriders is an upcoming third-person shooter that looks super action pact. With a mantra like “Cover is for cowards”, “Powers on tap”, and “Kill to heal” you have to expect a ton of chaos. Chaos always makes for great fun in shooters and with a release date set for February 2, 2021 we wont have to wait to long to see all the chaos go down.

F.I.S.T. Forged In Shadow Torch

F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch is a Metroidvania action game featuring exploration, intense combat, and challenging platforming. The art style looks really good mixed with animals being the main species which I always love. I think F.I.S.T. is one of the more interesting games from The Game Awards 2020 and has my attention for sure.

Evil Dead The Game

Well damn this was unexpected and super exciting. As I said before I love horror everything so seeing an Evil Dead game will always peak my interest. The game is a co-op shooter and will play almost like Left 4 Dead I think just based off of the trailer. This is another day one pick up for me possibly just because it’s Evil Dead but either way it will happen.

Ghosts’ N Goblins Resurrection

Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is a reboot that brings the beloved Capcom franchise back to life and into the 21st century. For the younger ones reading Ghosts’ N Goblins is a side-scrolling platform arcade game developed by Capcom and released in arcades in 1985. Hopefully, the reboot can do the original arcade game justice and connect generations of gamers together in a new way!

Returnal

Returnal is a third-person, shooter from Housemarque. The trailer revealed a female protagonist crash-landing on an alien planet. It looks like there’s some intense combat, a lot of opportunity for cool exploration, especially on the new PS5 graphics, and an interesting narrative that will surely capture our attention. We also get the release date from The Game Awards 2020 with the release date being 03/19/2021.

Super Meat Boy Forever

After a long delay Super Meat Boy Forever was finally given a release date during The Game Awards 2020, that being 12/23/2020. Super Meat Boy Forever is an indie platform game and will already have a good fan base to play it from the start. Hopefully, Super Meat Boy Forever will have been worth the wait and deliver another great game to play.

Road 96

“Hitchhike your way to freedom in this crazy procedurally generated road trip made by renowned indie creators. No one’s road is the same!”

Road 96’s premise is just amazing. There is so much opportunity with the game and the replayability is also huge. Another very interesting game to come out of The Game Awards 2020 with a ton of potential. I hope this game does well just based on the fact that it is so unique.

It Takes Two

It Takes Two is another very unique and interesting looking game coming out of The Game Awards 2020. The game is centered around a real-life couple who get turned into what looks like yarn people. It Takes Two is meant to be played in co-op with the game even coming with two copies when you buy it. This would be a great game to play with a significant other.

Oddworld Soulstorm

Oddworld: Soulstorm is an upcoming platform game developed and published by Oddworld Inhabitants and will be coming in the spring of 2021. Another Oddworld game in a long line of great games throughout the years. It will be the continuation of 2014’s Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! and a re-imagining of 1998’s Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus.

Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise is an upcoming action role-playing video game in the Monster Hunter series, developed and produced by Capcom for the Nintendo Switch. It has a set release date of March 26, 2021, and will surely be welcome by all the Monster Hunter fans out there. Most likely the same old formula will be used while adding in new monsters to fight. This isn’t a bad thing by any means as the Monster Hunter games work and are very fun.

Evil West

Another one of my favorites to be shown off at The Game Awards 2020 was Evil West. In visceral, explosive combat, unleash hell with your firearms, lightning-fueled gauntlet, and gadgets. Evil West will be able to be played in solo or co-op. Rise up to become a Wild West Superhero, eradicate the vampire threat and save the United States!

Scarlet Nexus

Scarlet Nexus is an anime-styled apocalyptic sci-fi game. Join the Other Suppression Force (OSF), as humanity’s last line of defense from deranged mutants known as Others. In Scarlet Nexus you will use kinetic abilities, the world around you will become your greatest weapon.

Thunder Tier One

Thunder Tier One is a realistic top-down shooter in which you will be fighting against a terrorist organization. The graphics look great and so does the gameplay. If you’re into tactical shooting games this will be a good one to pick up.

Ruined King A League Of Legends Story

Unite your party of League of Legends champions and dive into the world in this turned-base combat game. Obviously, having League of Legends in the name will already turn heads as it did mine considering the game is so big. Being able to play with characters of the game in a totally different environment and game type has me very excited. We will get to see the League of Legends world in a way we never have before and that is the reason this is probably my favorite game of The Game Awards 2020.

Humankind

Humankind is an upcoming 4x game that is very comparable to the Civilization series. The game is set for release on April 22, 2021, and looks gorgeous. The turn-based strategy game will be a must-have for fans of the genre. You can create your own civilization by combining 60 historical cultures from the Ancient to the Modern Age. Each culture will shape the game in a slightly different way leading to almost endless outcomes and great replayability.

Medal Of Honor Above And Beyond

Medal of Honor Above and Beyond is a game we are expecting to be a true staple of the modern VR shooter genre. With the ability to fly planes, shoot launchers, and work together as a team to claim victory over the opponent, it’s surely going to be a fun game.

The Game Awards 2020

Obviously, The Game Awards 2020 was huge and we expected nothing but that being true. There were a ton of games announced to go along with the wonderful awards The Game Awards always give out. We want to give a huge congratulations to everyone involved and nominated. As well as an even bigger congratulations to Valkyrae for winning content creator of the year. So many gamers tune in to streams and watch content from our favorite people and Valkyrae has brought a lot of joy in a year that hasn’t been the best.

It’s important to remember the amazing things we as gamers get to see and experience. We can’t wait for 2021 and hope the year can be a great bounce-back year after such a rough 2020. Luckily The Game Awards 2020 can remind us of all the fun we had and give us a hint to what fun we might have in the future. Be sure to check out our list of the best upcoming games of 2021 and have a happy holiday!
