2023 was a wonderful year for gamers. From old series delivering yet another masterpiece to indie games taking us by surprise. We feel spoiled as ever with what games we were given and 2023 and want to make sure you do too. With so many great games to choose from, we want to make sure you don’t miss out on our Top 5 Best Games of 2023!
5. Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 was everything we could have asked for and more! The remake of the original 2005 game somehow takes one of the most beloved games ever and makes it even better. Taking the already thrilling and wonderful experience of RE4 and adding simple things like being able to move while shooting and updated graphics makes the game feel truly like a 2023 product. Due to it being a remake, I don’t feel right putting it above any of the other games in our Top 5 Best Games of 2023, but everyone should give it a playthrough especially if you never played the original.
4. Alan Wake 2
The long-awaited sequel to Alan Wake finally arrived after 13 years. Luckily for us, it did not disappoint. The survival/ horror will keep you on the edge of your seat with its mind-altering and wonderfully dark narrative. Alan Wake 2 feels quite different from the first game in the series but owns its style and feels unique to almost every other game I’ve ever seen. Alan Wake 2 deserves a playthrough and was a shoo-in on our Top 5 Best Games of 2023 list!
3. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Another absolute classic in The Legend of Zelda line. Tears of the Kingdom acts as a sequel and essentially a dlc to Breath of The Wild. Now don’t get me wrong that’s not a bad thing the gameplay mechanics are great and the world is beautiful and vast. Tears of the Kingdom takes old-school building and turns it up to 1000. The freedom and ability to build so much makes ToTK just that much more enjoyable.
2. Dredge
Number 2 on our list of the Top 5 Best Games of 2023 might take you a bit by surprise. But let me tell you Dredge is an absolute indie darling that many people including myself have fallen in love with. At its core Dredge is a fishing game, sell the fish you catch upgrade your boat, and explore the mysteries of the archipelago. I happily put Dredge on my Top 5 Best Games of 2023 list and highly recommend everyone giving this game a shot.
1. Baldur's Gate 3
Finally, to absolutely no one’s surprise, we have Baldur’s Gate 3 as our best game of 2023! For those living under a rock Baldur’s Gate 3 is a role-playing game based on Dungeons and Dragons. The game feels fully alive allowing players to choose their path at almost every turn. There is nothing that we can say about Baldur’s Gate 3 that hasn’t been said, by now you should know you have to give it a shot. It is by far the best game of the year and was always going to be number 1 on our Top 5 Best Games of 2023 list.
