With so much of pop culture revolving around superheroes in recent years, it’s no surprise we have gotten quite a few good Superhero Games. With such a large number to choose from we thought it would only be fun and fair to keep it to one game per series. We will definitely still mention the series as a whole when we get to it though. Without further ado let’s smash, boom, bang into this list!
5. Marvel’s Midnight Suns
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is the newest game on this list, coming out in March of 2022. The tactical role-playing game has its combat centered around a revolutionary card-based system. While we do very much enjoy the combat the game truly shines in its massive and we mean massive storyline. With so many heroes from all around the Marvel universe, you get to see some fun meet-ups and build relationships based on what actions you choose. While Marvel’s Midnight Suns may not be for everyone we do truly enjoy it and are happy to put it on our Top 5 Best Superhero Games.
4. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
With so many other games in the Marvel vs. Capcom series, it’s hard to pick our favorite. However, when it’s all said and done Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 just has to be the answer. While originally just a DLC for Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds Capcom quickly realized just how much it would add and decided to make it a stand-alone title. 12 Characters from Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, and Doctor Strange were added on top of the characters we already had in Fate of Two Worlds, bringing the total to 50. Not only that but new stages and modes just improved upon the already delivering online experience.
3. Injustice 2
The 2nd fighting game to be on our Top 5 Best Superhero Games list is Injustice 2. Truly a great fighting game but is also known for its enthralling story. A great roster behind fighting that just feels good is the perfect equation for a very enjoyable superhero game. There is also no confirmed game 3 but it has been highly suspected for a while and we sure hope we end up getting the next installment.
2. Marvel’s Spider-Man
Number 2 on our Top 5 Best Superhero Games brings us to the wonderful web-slinging world of Spider-Man! The world in Marvel’s Spider-Man truly feels lived in and has so much to see and do, because of this swinging around the world is just that much more enjoyable. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is also another great game that came out in 2020. Both are very solid superhero games but we put Marvel’s Spider-Man on our list due to the fact it laid the pathway for Miles Morales.
1. Batman: Arkham City
Finally, we get to our number 1 best superhero game, Batman: Arkham City! This honestly shouldn’t be a surprise to too many people. The Batman games are definitely some of the best superhero games and the main reason I chose to only pick one game per series. It also helps that I happen to be a huge Batman fan. But fandom aside Arkham City was essentially the game that made this list possible. So many of the great superhero games used Arkham City as a starting point for their game.
You play as Batman and are able to explore the city, solve crimes, and beat up bad guys. The world feels alive enough to fully draw you in and feel like you are the “The Caped Crusader”. We highly recommend all of the Batman games, but if you had to pick just one to play the choice has to be Batman: Arkham City!
