Third Party Clients in Runescape have been around since the beginning but with the offical Jagex Launcher offering what they say are big improvments alongside more and more intrusive to the point of breaking game mechanics at least for how they were intended to work.
With that being said will you still be able to use your favorite third party clients in Runescape? That answer is both yes and no. There is now only a short list of three third part clients that will not get you in any trouble with Jagex with those three being: RuneLite, HDOS, and OSBuddy.

Jagex themselves said the current system is imperfect but for the long-term health of the game a change needs to be made now. Jagex does plan to continue to work and hopefully come up with a system in which other third part clients can be developed or fall in lines with the guidelines they set making them available again.
With that being said as of now Jagex only wants players using the three aformentioned clients with any other use being considered a breach of T&C’s. That breach will lead to a two week ban and continued use will lead to a more servere punishment.
“We do not wish to unfairly punish anybody, but we must take necessary action to protect the game. Thank you for working with us. We firmly believe that this is in Old School’s best interests. With your assistance, we can solve the issue of detrimental third-party features and focus our efforts on the improvement of our own clients.”
