With quite a few solid games from Nintendo, some people may have not been sure which Title would win this year. Games like Pokémon Sword and Shield and Paper Mario: The Origami King were a couple of games that turned heads. But don’t get it twisted there was only one game that could really win and that was Animal Crossing New Horizons.
New Horizons came out in March and has been doing well ever since. Not only did it get a ton of mainstream attention especially through Twitter but it also was put in the spotlight due to the ongoing pandemic. By August it had already sold 22 million copies essentially guaranteeing that it would be getting this award.
Animal Crossing New Horizons is just what you want in an AC game. Plenty of wholesome characters to be friends with and a town for you to create on your own. The Addition of multiplayer also did wonders for the game as it allowed for group play when social aspects are so needed in today’s world with the pandemic.
Overall it shouldn’t be too surprising that it won the Nintendo game of the year and we expect it to continue to do well in the future as well. Let us know if you’ve played the game and enjoyed it. Also who is your favorite Villager and why?
