Andrzej Zawadzki, one of the lead gameplay designers for CD Projekt Red on Cyberpunk 2077 took to Twitter to announce that he would be leaving the studio.
With 8 years spent with CD Projekt Red, it goes without saying that he will be missed in the studio. Zawadzki began his work on Cyberpunk 2077 in 2016 with the role of Junior Gameplay designer but took on many different roles before finally being named the games Senior Gameplay designer in March of 2020.
There isn’t much further news on if Zawadzki is moving to another gaming studio or is taking time away from the gaming world. Zawadzki was also one among other individuals who spoke out against the death threats given to members of the CDPR team based around the rough development cycle and eventual release of Cyberpunk 2077. It wouldn’t surprise me if those threats in turn actually have something to do with Zawadzki stepping away from the company and possibly the gaming world as a whole for now.
It is important to remember that devs are very much just like everyone else. They have feelings and are obviously doing their best to create games we all love. Whether or not a game ends up being exactly what you want when you want it, threats are in no way needed or wanted by anyone. We at GameScoutr wish the best for Mr. Zawadzki and will eagerly await his return to the gaming world if it does come.
