Hades wins Hugo Award for Best Video Game and became the first Video Game to ever win a Hugo Award in the process. The Hugo Awards set out to recognize the best and brightest literary works from the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres. Within the last few years the Hugo Awards have branched out from just literary works and have moved into categories such as Best Fanzine or Best Fancast. The Best Video Game Award that Hades won as of now is just a one-off award but is in consideration for an annual spot at the Award show.

Hades writer and creative director Greg Kasavin while unable to attend the Award Show did take to Twitter to accept and thank the Hugo Awards for the great honor.

Hades managed to beat out some very strong competition in The Last of US Part II, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Spiritfarer and Blaseball. Hopefully, with any luck The Hugo Awards will decide to keep the category for Best Video Game around for future. Gaming has truly taken the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres by storm. The creativity that comes from these games has not only broadened the idea of what the two genres can be but also introduced a ton of new fans from all ages.
