March is women’s history month and to celebrate we want to feature our Top 5 Games With Female Protagonists! Women are amazing and have been a huge factor in the creation and development of so much of the gaming industry. There are also plenty of amazing female-led games and we are sure to miss quite a few be sure to let us know your favorites over on our Twitter. Without further ado let’s jump into the list!
5. Bayonetta
To start off our list we have Bayonetta. The badass Witch was first introduced in 2009. While definitely, being an over-sexualized character Bayonetta is one of the most popular Female Protagonists. Sexiness however is not why she is great, Bayonetta is a witty, dual pistol-wielding, witch who can handle herself in a fight. While Bayonetta has its issues it is undeniable how iconic she is. With a solid 3 game series and a new 2023 game coming soon, Bayonetta had to make our list of Top 5 Games With Female Protagonists.
4. NieR:Automata
Nier: Automata is a 2017 action role-playing game developed by PlatinumGames and is another great game with a female protagonist. You play as 2B a YoRHa android created to battle the machine lifeforms that have invaded the planet. The beautiful open world and the compelling story make this game worth it even by themselves. If you’re looking for a fun dark and twisted game Nier: Automata might just be the game for you.
3. Resident Evil 3
An absolute classic Resident Evil 3 was a lock for our Top 5 Games With Female Protagonists. Jill Valentine is one of the most iconic Female Protagonist in the gaming world and the RE3 Remake that came out back in 2020 just help submit that even more. Resident Evil really needs no introduction the series is massive and has been a horror game staple for so long, so much so the series as a whole made our best Halloween games 2022 list!
2. Celeste
Next up on our Top 5 Games With Female Protagonists we have a beloved platform game in Celeste. In Celeste, you play Madeline a woman with anxiety and depression who aims to climb Celeste Mountain. The game is not only a super fun platformer, even being played by quite a few speedrunners, but also a wonderful story about overcoming obstacles in life. The game even offers an Assist Mode that can help you with some of the harder parts of the game, which there are very much hard parts. Overall Celeste is a wonderful game and comes highly recommended by us.
1. Horizon Zero Dawn
For number 1 on our list of Top 5 Games With Female Protagonists, we have Horizon Zero Dawn! You play as Aloy a young hunter that lives in a world overrun by machines. Both Zero Dawn and Forbidden West the sequel are amazing games. The beautiful worlds do a lot to make you just enjoy your time playing the games and Aloy’s strong personality is noticeable all the way through.
