2023 was a great year for gaming, with our Top 5 Best Games of 2023 being a big reason! With so many instant classics, the new year will have quite a bit to live up to. Can these Top 5 New PC games in January 2024 do their part in starting the year right? If 5 games aren’t enough for you be sure to check out our upcoming new games 2024 list as well!
We start off the list with a very intriguing game, Sovereign Syndicate. Sovereign Syndicate is a Victorian steampunk RPG that uses tarot cards instead of the usual dice. You get to choose from three playable characters with branching stories. As you investigate London you will find that the disappearance of society’s most vulnerable is the workings of a mysterious cult.
The gameplay is mainly text-based and the use of the aforementioned tarot cards will be your lifeline to the world. As you progress your character with narrative choices new tarot cards will be unlocked. Sovereign Syndicate is set to release on January 15th to Steam and hopes to start the 2024 for PC gaming off strong.
Next up on our Top 5 New PC games in January we have a game that me and my friends have been keeping an eye on. Enshrouded is an Action RPG with heavy elements of survival and crafting, similar to games like Valheim. Now don’t get me wrong I loved Valheim but if all things go the way they should Enshrouded seems to just be a better version of that type of game. Plus with up to 16-player co-op you can just bring in more people.
Hunt, craft, build, and fight monsters it truly seems like a very fun open world. From what we’ve seen so far it looks like there is already a decent amount to do. The game with be released on January 24th to Steam in Early Access but the devs have said they hope to only be in early access for a year while getting community involvement to really help shape the game.
The newest installment in the long-running Like a Dragon series (Yakuza), Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The game has two familiar characters making a return and leading the way with Ichiban Kasuga, the protagonist of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Kazuma Kiryu, the original protagonist of the series. Was it fate that brought them together or something more sinister…?
Infinite Wealth is a turn-based RPG like Like a Dragon before it and going to be the longest game in the series. The Like a Dragon/Yakuza games are known for their weirdness and convoluted stories and Infinite Wealth should be no different. Either way, we can’t wait to get our hands on Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth on January 25th!
2. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
To put it bluntly, there was not a ton of hype around Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown when it was announced. It’s understandable when you look at the game at the base level, The Lost Crown is a Metroidvania-style Prince of Persia game that doesn’t even feature the Prince… A far cry from what people wanted/expected from the Prince of Persia series, a series that hasn’t seen a game released since 2010.
However even with all that being said, there has been nothing but praise coming out of anyone who has been able to play the game to this point. Being described as a very good, fluid action platforming game it’s hard to not get at least a little excited, and that is why Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is number 2 Top 5 New PC Games in January 2024!
Another absolute monster of a series is Tekken and that doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon with Tekken 8. The first major fighting game to come out using Unreal Engine 5 the game looks gorgeous. The game will release with 32 fighters and planned DLCs which at this point is just understood when it comes to fighting games.
Tekken has been a staple of the fighting game community and we can only hope and assume Tekken 8 will just be another step forward in making the perfect fighting game. The game will be released on January 25th and is a great way to start 2024, as such it without a doubt deserves the number 1 spot on our Top 5 New PC Games in January 2024!
