While everyone is trying to get their hands on the PS5 we are going to take a trip all the way back to 2000 to one of my favorite consoles of all time, the Playstation 2. Let’s take a look at my Top 5 PS2 Games! Keep in mind I was very young and only got to play so many games.
5. God of War 2
Just two years after the original God of War we got this masterpiece. God of War 2 brought us bigger and better action than the first and allowed us to continue our onslaught throughout Greece. We got a few fun new abilities and powers to make our time just a little more enjoyable as well. Overall the game was just gory and fun.
4. Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy X was not only the first FF game on PS2 but also my first FF game in general. Final Fantasy X was the first game to go to turn-based combat style which explains why I love it so much, and while it had the game was by no means perfect it had its charm. The graphics actually weren’t even that bad even up to today’s standards and the twist near the end of the game made it a memorable one.
3. Shadow of the Colossus
Next up on our Top 5 PS2 games is a game so good they remade it. Shadow of the Colossus is a game where you do your best to take down 16 giants. The game truly feels like a mystery as so little is said and seen. The experience is truly unique and should be had by every gamer at least once. Like I said before we did get a remake for the PS4 so it’s still easily accessible as you’re likely still waiting for your PS5 anyway.
2. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
While GTA Vice City comes to mind for many people San Andreas was just better. It added a scale that GTA hadn’t had up to that point and in doing so made for so many things to explore. With both weird and realistic parts of the game you just couldn’t beat it. GTA San Andreas was almost the PS2 game to be remembered by all.
1. Silent Hill 2
For me, Silent Hill 2 is that game. I love spooky games and this was my first real spooky game. Silent Hill 2 is truly unrelentingly suspenseful and provides great enemies. The game truly does such a good job of providing both scares and a number of themes that aren’t always the easiest to portray. If you haven’t played Silent Hill 2 you’re truly missing out and should go back and do a playthrough if you can!
