In a recent post about Parties Epic Games Store Social Update, Epic Games introduced everyone to “parties” their voice and text chat “party system.”

We expect Parties to just be Epic’s discord of sorts. Epic Games seems to essentially be trying to set up their own version of any gaming related and who could blame them. We know how successful Epic Games has been and with the amount of people already used to the name “mainly younger gamers” Epic might be the gaming company they know most.
The Party “windows” will allow Epic Store users to chat with each other whether or not they’re in a game together, and won’t depend on one person staying logged in. Parties will support voice, video, and text chat. The plan for Parties is for cross-platform parties where you can “share your latest highlights to convince your friends to play a game with you” or “kick off a match with only a few friends in the group while being able to continue talking” to everyone else.

So while there will be some definite difference from a program like Discord. We are excited to see what Parties Epic Games will have in store for us and what new things it might bring to the table. We will do our best to keep you up to date on specific features and release dates!
