There’s some exciting news in the world of VR. Facebook acquired Ready at Dawn Studios! Ready at Dawn is the maker of the wildly popular Lone Echo series, one of the first “real” games for VR. They’ve also made other games like The Order: 1888.

This acquisition just so happened to line up on the same day Facebook Gaming accepted transfers of streamers and viewers from Microsoft’s Mixer debacle.

We think this is a fantastic sign for the health and future of VR. Facebook seems to be doubling down on its Oculus platform and social networking aspect of virtual reality.

Mike Verdu, the vice president of the AR/VR content at Facebook told everyone he was impressed by the technical achievement of Lone Echo and paved the way for the possibilities of VR in the future.

Ready at Dawn has been a huge proponent of the VR space after Facebook acquired Oculus. They shifted their focus from “pancake” games to the VR realm, and we’re glad they did.

Ready at Dawn will continue to make VR games as in independent studio which is great to see.

Oculus didn’t stop there. Ready at Dawn will join the recently acquired Beat Games, the maker of Beat Saber and Sanzaru Games, makes of Asgard’s Wrath.

If you were wondering, Ready at Dawn is still making Lone Echo II. (Hype!!!)

Ready at Dawn’s CEO and Creative Director Ru Weerasuriya shaerd an exciting tweet to signify their acquisitoin by Facebook.

Here’s hoping Ready at Dawn continues to make amazing VR games and their Lone Echo franchise is strengthened by Facebook’s resources. We can’t wait to see what happens. Congrats Ready at Dawn.
