A Wake Inn is a first-person VR horror game that will require both stealth and puzzle-solving as well as some elements of action. But A Wake Inn is also a little different from most VR Horror games, the character you control throughout the game is wheelchair-bound thus making it accessible to people who cannot stand for too long if at all. Yes, that’s right you play the whole game sitting down.

I love the idea and practice of making this so accessible to people that usually wouldn’t be able to play VR Horror games. It not only works to do that but also to come up with a unique gameplay feel. Seeing things within the environment from a sitting position will change even the most simple of things just by changing how we see them.

Don’t worry though the game doesn’t only look interesting because of the whole wheelchair thing, the also very unique inventory system feels so right. Only being able to store what you can fit in your case. It should make it feel very immersive and evens your save and load buttons show up within the case as to not have any UI pop up taking you out of the game.

A Wake Inn

In A Wake Inn, you will explore the gloomy estate owned by Doctor Finnegan who will also happen to be guiding you on your way through a shortwave transmitter. Your goal is simply to find out who you are and what you’re doing there. You can use your flashlight along the way to brighten up dark spaces but only if you have the batteries to do so. There’s also an awesome feature of finding old movie reels that you can take to an actual in-game cinema room to help you figure out what’s going on!

Overall I think the game looks very interesting and unique. I said it before and I’ll say it again I love that it is accessible for anyone to play as that’s not something we often think about with VR and the limitations some people may have. The game is set to come out in Q1 of 2021 so hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long. Let me know what you think about A Wake Inn and what looks most interesting about it to you.
