Dying Light 2 hasn’t had the best 2020, to say the least. The game was initially set to come out sometime in the spring of 2020 and had to be pushed back with no release date actually known as of now. Not only was the game delayed but Chris Avellone who was a name largely attached to the project was also forced to leave after multiple women came forward with sexual misconduct allegations. Then to add on top of everything else we learned this week that Dying Light 2 lead writer Pawel Selinger has decided to part ways with the developer Techland.

In a statement Techland did confirm the departure of Selinger but also made it clear that the role of Dying Light 2 lead writer had already been filled months before the departure and there is nothing to be worried about. Techland also made it a point to shoot down some reports that the art director had left the company as well, likely to due with Selinger’s position as art director in the past.

While it does seem that Selinger’s departure shouldn’t cause to many problems within the scope of the game it still brings concern. We are now almost a year out of the original release date and not much is really known about the project. Dying Light did very well with fans and I’m sure people have been waiting to here more about the second game in the series. While we still don’t have a new set release date we do have at least a little something to be excited about as a rep did say Techland “will be sharing exciting news about Dying Light 2 soon!”

We will keep our fingers crossed but stay optimistically concern as there has been so many problems within the development of Dying Light 2.
