There’s been a lot of speculation whether or not the next title for one of the greatest games on the PS4 will be a next-gen exclusive.

God of War: Ragnarok is one of the most highly anticipated games for the next generation of games. However, the the successor to the original God of War will definitely be on both generations.

“I’m sure the next God of War will be PS4, PS5. Of course it will.” – David Jaffe, former employee of Santa Monica Studios

Because God of War Ragnarok is releasing early in the PS5’s life cycle, the development techniques and producers might not differ as wildly as it would later on. This should make it relatively easy for Santa Monica Studios and other PS5 developers to create two distinct versions of the game that are appropriate for the respective hardware inside.

God of War Ragnarok was announced back in September 2020 and was speculated to be released in 2021. We know “2021” isn’t exactly a small window, at least we know it’s coming this year. The quicker Sony can get a big title like God of War for the PS5, the better the sales will be for the new console.

God Of War Ragnarok Will Likey Be On PS4 And PS5 1

Of course, many PS4 gamers can’t afford or don’t want to upgrade to the PS5 just yet. Not to mention, it can be very hard to find a console in stock right now. Sony is debating if it should put the new title on the PS4 considering they are trying to convince gamers to upgrade. It’s been confirmed the New Ratchet & Clank will be a PS5 exclusive. Don’t worry, some of the other popular titles like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and the new Horizon Forbidden West will be coming to the PS4.

Many gamers and enthusiasts would be devasted if Ragnarok is a next-gen exclusive. The PS5 is very powerful and an absolute upgrade to even the PS4 Pro, but that doesn’t mean the end-of-life cycle God of War was anything to scoff at. I distinctly remember saying “wow, this gives any PC game a run for its money.” The PS4 version of Ragnarok will still be jaw-dropping. The biggest issue will likely be the reduced frame rates and longer loading times.

We’re hoping for all the PS4 gamers out there that God of War Ragnarok won’t be a PS5 exclusive. From what we know so far, the odds are it won’t be.
